Wisata Sejarah di Asia Tenggara

Berikut ini adalah beberapa tempat bersejarah di Asia Tenggara yang saya rekomendasikan. Semoga menginspirasi Anda untuk rencana perjalanan berikutnya!

Angkor Wat, Kamboja


Secara harfiah namanya berarti “candi (berukuran) kota/city temple”. Ukurannya memang masif, sekitar 80 hektare. Didirikan pada abad ke-12 oleh raja Suryawarman II sebagai bagian dari kekaisaran Khmer yang berdiri pada abad yang sama. Uniknya, ia merupakan salah satu kompleks candi Buddha yang pada awalnya digunakan oleh umat Hindu.

Ayutthaya, Thailand




Ayutthaya adalah kerajaan yang ada di jantung negara Thailand hari ini. Ia merupakan salah satu kerajaan terkaya di Asia Tenggara. Ayutthaya sendiri hari ini merujuk pada kompleks kota tua di dalam kota modern yang juga bernama Ayutthaya. Kumpulan candi-candi (wat) peninggalan ibukota Ayutthaya dapat dikunjungi di Ayutthaya Historical Park.

Borobudur, Indonesia



Borobodur adalah kompleks candi termasyhur lainnya di Asia Tenggara. Bagi kita yang di Indonesia, mengunjunginya sangat mudah. Walau lebih kecil dari Angkor Wat, Borobudur lebih tua, dibangun pada abad ke-9. Candi ini juga dari awal didedikasikan untuk umat Buddha.

Luang Prabang, Laos



Kota ini merupakan ibukota kerajaan Luang Prabang yang berdiri pada abad ke-17 sampai akhir abad ke-18. Mirip seperti Ayutthaya, Thailand, di kota ini banyak peninggalan bangunan bersejarah seperti candi (juga dipanggil wat di Laos).

Hue, Vietnam



Hue dulunya adalah ibukota dari Vietnam ketika negara itu berada di bawah bendera Dinasti Nguyen. Sejarah dinasti yang panjang meninggalkan beberapa bangunan bersejarah, seperti benteng, monumen dan makam. Selain itu, letaknya yang berada di tengah Vietnam menjadi lokasi pertempuran antara pasukan Vietnam Selatan dan Vietnam Utara ketika Perang Vietnam.

Melaka, Malaysia



Didirikan sebagai pos strategis Portugis dalam rangka ekspansi kolonialismenya ke Asia Tenggara. Sempat menjadi pos persinggahan bangsa Belanda juga. Beberapa peninggalan kolonial seperti benteng pertahanan (A Famosa) dan balai kota (Stadthuys) terdapat di sini. Cocok jika Anda menyukai wisata kota tua.

Singapura



Wisata sejarah tidak perlu melulu soal candi atau situs tertentu. Beberapa bagian dari sebuah kota atau negara bisa menjadi ekskursi sejarah yang menarik. Mungkin tidak ada yang terbayang soal Singapura sebagai tempat bersejarah, tetapi Singapura punya sejarah kolonial yang menarik.

Ia menjadi persimpangan banyak momen di masa lalu dan berpindah-pindah tangan ke banyak pihak, mulai dari Sriwijaya, Inggris, sampai Malaysia. Jumlah populasinya banyak didominasi imigran karena letaknya yang strategis. Sebagai konsekuensi, Singapura tumbuh menjadi pusat ekonomi dan industri yang mapan.
